Alonso delighted with 'very good race' for Aston Martin after P7 in Singapore
Despite a slow pit stop, Fernando Alonso was able to show strong pace in Singapore with his Aston Martin.

Fernando Alonso was left pleased with "a very good race for us" as the Aston Martin driver took seventh-place in the Singapore Grand Prix.
The Spaniard proved to be best-of-the-rest on the road under the floodlights at the Marina Bay Street Circuit on Sunday, finishing eighth before being elevated one further position at the expense of Lewis Hamilton due to a post-race penalty.
Alonso had started 10th and made up two positions in the early running with help from Pirelli's soft tyre and managed a gap to Isack Hadjar behind before the sole pit stop sequence of the race.
A slow stop dropped Alonso back behind the Racing Bulls driver before he was able to eventually overtake and gapped the field behind before closing on Hamilton in the final stages, the Ferrari driver struggling with a brake issue.
The result marked Alonso's seventh points finish in the last 10 Grands Prix, which has moved him up to 11th in the Drivers' Championship.
"It was a vey good race for us. The car was fast, the car felt fast in the first stint, we opened a nice gap with the soft tyre, lasted longer than we expected so that was very good news," he said.
"And then a slow pit stop but the car was still very fast in the second stint and we finished in the same position.
"Some fun battles, Singapore is never easy to overtake but as I said, I had an advantage on the tyre as well.
"Everyone fitted the hard in the second stint, I fitted the medium, so that was a good call from the team and I had this tyre advantage that gave the opportunity to overtake."
In comparison, team mate Lance Stroll was only able to finish P13 having started two places further down with overtaking across the field proving difficult.
"We did the best we could. We tried to hang it out there and wait for a Safety Car in the middle of the race which never came," said Stroll, who made his set of soft tyres last until Lap 25.
"P13 was kind of the best we could do today."
