WATCH: Zhou crashes out at start of Sprint in Emilia Romagna

Zhou Guanyu’s first experience of the F1 Sprint format lasted just nine corners of the Imola circuit, as the Chinese driver got caught up with the AlphaTauri of Pierre Gasly, with Zhou’s Alfa Romeo spat into the barriers.

Starting P14, Zhou was scrapping with Gasly over the same piece of track going through Turn 9 when they came together, with Zhou coming off worse as he hit the barriers, dislodging his rear wing – while Gasly suffered a puncture and front wing damage, forcing him to pit.

“I’ve been hit,” exclaimed Zhou. “What’s going on man?” However, if Zhou felt aggrieved, the stewards didn’t agree, as they ruled that there would be no further investigation into the incident.
