Max Verstappen put in a storming final lap in Saturday evening’s qualifying session in Bahrain to seal pole position for Sunday's season opening Grand Prix – the 21st pole position of his career.
Verstappen was already on provisional pole when he set a time of 1m 29.846s on his final run, to lead his team mate Sergio Perez by 0.138s. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc finished 0.292s away in third.
