WATCH: Ride onboard with Antonelli for his history-making pole position lap in China
Join Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli for his historic pole position lap in Qualifying at the Chinese Grand Prix.
History was made in Qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix when Kimi Antonelli claimed pole position, making him the youngest-ever polesitter in Formula 1.
The Italian pumped in a time of 1m 32.064s to go quickest of all, putting him 0.222s clear of Mercedes team mate George Russell – who could only complete one flying lap in Q3 following an issue with his car that saw him briefly stop on track.
While Antonelli previously took pole in Sprint Qualifying for last year’s Miami Grand Prix, the performance in Shanghai marks his first Grand Prix pole position. And with his Miami P1 converting into a final result of P7, the teenager will be hoping for better this time around.
