The increasingly tense battle between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen for the 2024 title has been one of the thrills of the season, and fans were treated to another dramatic chapter at the United States Grand Prix.

As the field headed into the closing stage of the race, the McLaren driver had been steadily creeping closer to his Red Bull rival until he was consistently half a second behind him.

Lap after lap, Norris made multiple attempts to pass the Dutchman for the final podium position in a race that was crucial in the championship battle, but was repeatedly kept at bay.

Leaning into the advantage of having fresher tyres, he sent it at Turn 12 with just four laps remaining – the pair went wheel-to-wheel and ran wide off the track before Norris narrowly emerged ahead.

The captivating battle ended unfortunately for the Briton after he was handed a five-second penalty for gaining the position off track, demoting him to P4 and widening the gap at the top of the standings.
