WATCH: From Stroll’s button confusion to Verstappen's joy – The best team radio from Zandvoort
While Max Verstappen sent the crowds wild with his victory on home soil in Zandvoort, it wasn’t all plain sailing behind the scenes for either the Dutchman or his rivals. Thanks to six red flag stoppages before the race had even begun, PU issues and a fair few crashes, the airwaves were filled with a range of emotions across the Dutch GP weekend…
Carlos Sainz was left bemused by his crash in practice, before the Williams pair joined him in hitting the barriers – requiring immediate apologies to the team from George Russell. Qualifying was a toss up between Antonio Giovinazzi and Pierre Gasly as to who was the happiest with their lap, with pole-sitter Verstappen also rather pleased with his effort.
Come race day, the Dutchman was confused by what had happened to his rival’s pace while Valtteri Bottas was given a stern talking to for going a bit too quickly. Fernando Alonso showed there’s life in the old dog yet, while Lance Stroll had some crossed wires - perhaps literally - with his race engineer.
