TECH WEEKLY: How teams adapted to the unique challenge of Monaco
Mark Hughes and Giorgio Piola dive into the unique updates that teams brought to the Monaco Grand Prix.
The very specific demands of Monte Carlo allowed several teams to devise weird and wonderful looking additional winglets for last weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.
These were based around the narrow, regulation-free area around the central part of the rear wing which is normally used to house the SLM (Straight Line Mode) activators.
With SLM not being used for the event, the way was clear to introduce some additional downforce generators without needing to be concerned about the extra drag they would create, given the unique layout of the circuit.
