Ferrari's bid to get back on terms with rivals Mercedes and Red Bull saw them test a revised front wing in Singapore. We look at the details...
Friday’s opening practice session in Singapore saw Ferrari testing the revised front wing shown above. Its second flap features a serrated exit edge, not dissimilar to the one (drawing below) seen on the Mercedes at the end of last season, though as highlighted in the insets, the teeth on the Ferrari design are somewhat smaller than those on their German rivals’.

Neither Ferrari nor Mercedes are strangers to experiments with serrations - both ran with 'teeth' on rear wing flaps during pre-season testing. The thinking behind using serrated edges is to improve aero efficiency, but it is not a simple solution to perfect.
