Russell set to start Turkish GP from back of the grid after taking new power unit elements

Williams' George Russell is set to start from the back of the grid for the 2020 Turkish Grand Prix after being forced to take several new power unit components.

Russell will use a fourth internal combustion engine, fourth turbocharger and fourth MGU-H for F1's return to Istanbul Park.

The sporting regulations allow three of each of those parts to be used over a season, with a 10-place grid penalty for the first infringement and a five place penalty for the next infringement.

However, as Russell has accrued more than 15-places worth of penalties, he'll have to start from the back of the grid this weekend in his Mercedes-powered car.

Along with Racing Point's Sergio Perez, Russell has also taken a third MGU-K of the season – within the two drivers' allocations.

The young Briton is still seeking a first F1 points finish, while Williams sit at the bottom of the table having entered Turkey without a world championship point in 2020.
