RACE HIGHLIGHTS: Watch all the action as Hamilton equals Schumacher's wins record at the Nurburgring
When Michael Schumacher hung up his helmet and retired from Formula 1, many thought his record of 91 wins in the sport would never be matched. But today at the Nurburgring, Lewis Hamilton did exactly that when he crossed the line to win the Eifel Grand Prix.
It was not a simple lights-to-flag win for the reigning World Champion though - after starting from second on the grid he took the lead off the line but almost immediately lost it again to pole-sitter Valtteri Bottas, who braved it out around the outside of Turn 1.
Hamilton's task was made easier by Bottas locking up a wheel on Lap 13 - allowing the Brit to re-take the lead - and the Finn's retirement from the race six laps later.
Hamilton shared the podium with Max Verstappen in second, and Daniel Ricciardo, who finally took his first podium with Renault - the French team's first since their return to the sport as a constructor in 2016.
