Belgium sees Charles Leclerc start from P1 on the grid for the first time since his home race in Monaco back in May. And joining the Ferrari on the front row is another face we’ve not seen there for a while – Red Bull’s Sergio Perez.
It’s an all-British second row, with Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and McLaren’s Lando Norris, followed by the second papaya car of Hungary winner Oscar Piastri and the sister Silver Arrow of George Russell.
Carlos Sainz could only manage a P7 slot for Ferrari, just ahead of compatriot Fernando Alonso in the Aston Martin, while standout performances from Esteban Ocon and Alex Albon sees the respective Alpine and Williams drivers complete the top ten.
Championship leader and qualifying pacesetter Max Verstappen starts from P11 for Red Bull after his engine change penalty, while RB’s Yuki Tsunoda is consigned to the back row after multiple new power unit elements on his car. Joining him there will be Kick Sauber’s Zhou Guanyu, who has a three-place penalty for impeding Verstappen in Q1.
