McLaren paved the way for Lewis Hamilton’s historic British Grand Prix victory by getting a couple of key strategic calls wrong and losing both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri real shots at victory.
But Mercedes’ choice of fitting Hamilton with the tricky soft tyre at the final pit stop played its part in McLaren’s downfall. We’ll explain why in a moment.
