McLaren reflect on ‘incredible emotion’ of winning back-to-back Teams’ Championship
McLaren have clinched back-to-back Teams' Championships for the first time since their winning streak between 1988 and 1991, marking an emotional achievement for the papaya squad.

McLaren’s drivers and teams have been sharing their reactions to the squad winning the Constructors’ Championship for a second consecutive year, with Team Principal Andrea Stella admitting that the feat brings with it an “incredible emotion”.
While George Russell took victory in the Singapore Grand Prix, a P3 and P4 for Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri respectively – a result that came after the pair banged wheels on Lap 1 of the race – was enough to seal the title for the papaya outfit.
The achievement is a historic one, with it marking the first time that McLaren have achieved back-to-back Teams’ Championships since their run of four in a row between 1988 and 1991, while it also becomes their 10th Teams’ title in all.
Speaking after the race, CEO Zak Brown said of the feat: “[It’s] pretty awesome. Unbelievable team here, unbelievable team back at the factory. All the men and women have done such an awesome job.
“The leadership that Andrea has provided to this race team, the whole leadership team, our owners, our shareholders – it’s such a team effort. It’s pretty awesome to go back-to-back. It’s been a while since we’ve done it!”
Stella acknowledged the achievement of taking the crown so early in the season as he added: “It’s an incredible emotion. I want to share it with the team and thank them for the incredible work. Even with six races to go, which looks unbelievable!

“That’s thanks to the great work that has happened at McLaren. Thank you to our fans, to our sponsors, all the technical partners, it’s teamwork and it’s great that the teamwork is rewarded like this.”
Pushed on whether this level of performance can be carried through when a new wave of technical regulations come into effect in 2026, Stella responded: “We are definitely working very hard to continue this streak of wins into the future, with this big change of technical regulations. We know it’s difficult but it’s an undertaking that we are ‘all in’ for it.”
Brown also took the opportunity to pay tribute to the performance of the drivers during the season, with Piastri and Norris currently holding seven and five wins apiece.
“They’ve driven brilliantly all season. You can’t win the Constructors’ without two awesome racing drivers,” said Brown.
“As you can see, we’re letting them race. That was a bit more of a nail-biter there, but they race hard, they race clean, they race to win. A lot of racing to go, and hopefully some more victories for both of them.”
The drivers also shared their reactions to the Teams’ Championship win, with Norris admitting that the result was a positive to come out of a challenging race.
“A tough one today, but I guess a good result, from a P3 but also for us as a team,” the Briton explained. “[We] got the Constructors’ – that was our goal into the weekend.
“Of course I want to win, but to come away with another Constructors’, that’s our goal as a team so it makes up for it, makes up for everything else, and [I’m] just very proud, happy to celebrate with everyone and happy that all their work is worth it.”
Piastri added that he was “very proud of the whole team”, with the Australian commenting: “This is one of the two objectives we set out to achieve every year, so to achieve it with this many races to go is very, very impressive. I’m just very happy for the whole team.”
