Formula 1 is back in Mexico City this week for the first time since 2019, and the drivers got their first taste of the track in the first practice session on Friday.
And despite Red Bull being tipped to have the edge at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, it was Mercedes who drew first blood in FP1 as Valtteri Bottas headed Lewis Hamilton, with Max Verstappen and home hero Sergio Perez third and fourth quickest.

There was early drama for Perez who hit the barriers at the final corner and damaged the rear of his RB16B – just moments after Charles Leclerc had an almost identical crash in the Ferrari.
