The long straights of Azerbaijan are surrounded by a complex of tight corners – including the narrowest on the F1 calendar – and a seriously tough downhill stretch that follows the castle section.
The circuit makes for an exhilirating qualifying lap, one where there's little room for error given the imposing barriers and relative lack of run-off, much like that in Monaco.

Last year, AlphaTauri's Pierre Gasly qualified a brilliant P4 for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix before finishing a stellar third, while team mate Yuki Tsunoda started seventh and finished there.
