F1 has stayed on at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit this week for some post-season testing, with the session also serving as the first opportunity for several new team and driver combinations to work together.
After a host of driver market movements over the summer, one of the major changes for 2023 sees Fernando Alonso switch the blue of Alpine for the green of Aston Martin – taking up the spot vacated by the retired Sebastian Vettel.
Alonso hit the track in Aston colours for the first time on Tuesday morning, while the two-time champion’s replacement at Alpine, Pierre Gasly, experienced his new surroundings as he leaves the Red Bull/AlphaTauri family.

As the final driver confirmed on the 2023 grid just last week, there was also a maiden outing for Nico Hulkenberg at Haas, while Oscar Piastri and Nyck de Vries made their first official appearances for McLaren and AlphaTauri respectively.
Mercedes protege Frederik Vesti also got his first taste of F1 machinery as he climbed into the Mercedes W13.

Vesti’s fellow F2 racers Jack Doohan (Alpine), Theo Pourchaire (Alfa Romeo), Felipe Drugovich (Aston Martin), Liam Lawson (Red Bull) and the newly-confirmed-at-Williams Logan Sargeant were also in action, along with Robert Shwartzman down at Ferrari and Pietro Fittipaldi at Haas – along with other members of the current F1 grid.
