GALLERY: Aston Martin reveal special tribute to Eddie Jordan on their car at Chinese Grand Prix
Aston Martin have paid a special tribute to Eddie Jordan with a fitting emblem on their car at the Chinese Grand Prix, honouring the former F1 team boss who passed away on Thursday.
The British squad hold a special link to Jordan, given that the origins of the team – which became known as Aston Martin in 2021 – date back to the Jordan Grand Prix outfit that arrived on the grid in 1991. Jordan eventually sold the team to the Midland Group in 2005, with further buy-outs seeing it run under the guises of Spyker, Force India and Racing Points in the years that followed.
OBITUARY: Remembering Eddie Jordan, one of F1's most colourful characters
Following the news of Jordan’s passing – which led to tributes flooding in from across the paddock – Aston Martin have added a shamrock symbol decal to the AMR25 with Jordan’s name underneath, a nod to the original team’s logo from the 1991 season.
In one of the messages shared by the squad as a tribute to Jordan, Team Principal and CEO Andy Cowell said: “Eddie Jordan was one of the all-time motorsport greats. He was a one-off, a wonderful human being, and a charismatic leader who founded this team and took it to F1 in 1991.
“His vision laid the foundations for us and he leaves a lasting legacy for the entire motorsport community. Today we pay tribute to a legend of the sport and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and colleagues.”
