F2 racer Cem Bolukbasi ruled out of Saudi Arabia weekend after practice crash

Formula 2 racer Cem Bolukbasi will not compete in the remainder of the weekend in Saudi Arabia after he was found to have suffered a concussion during a crash in free practice.
F2’s opening session was red flagged when Bolukbasi lost control of his car at Turn 10 and spun into the barriers. After getting out of the car, the Turkish driver was taken to the King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital for “precautionary checks”.

During the medical examination, Bolukbasi was found to have suffered a concussion and remained in hospital overnight for “further precautionary checks”. As such, the 23-year-old has been declared unfit to race and will not compete in either of the two F2 races in Jeddah.
In a statement posted on his Twitter, Bolukbasi said: “I am ok with no health problems. After all necessary medical examinations and as a precaution, I have been declared unfit to participate in the races today and tomorrow due to the nature of the incident.
“I am very much looking forward to stepping back into my car and joining my team at the next official test in Barcelona and from there, the third round of the championship in Imola by being prepared the most powerful way mentally and physically. Thanks for your support as always.”
