F1 ACADEMY: Untouchable Pin sees off Weug to take Shanghai Race 2 victory

Doriane Pin got her F1 ACADEMY title quest underway in impressive fashion, sealing the Race 2 win around the Shanghai International Circuit.
Lining up behind polesitter Maya Weug for a rolling start, following an oil spill on track, the Mercedes driver pounced. Snatching the lead and holding it through an early Safety Car restart, Pin brought home a comfortable victory by over two seconds.

Weug had to settle for second and Red Bull Ford’s Chloe Chambers took back-to-back podiums, dispatching Alba Larsen after a multi-lap battle for third.
The Tommy Hilfiger driver put on a fierce defence to secure her spot as the highest-finishing rookie in fourth. Kick Sauber’s Emma Felbermayr battled her way past Race 1 winner Alisha Palmowski with two laps to go to take fifth, with the Red Bull Racing driver in sixth.
Ella Lloyd was once again in the points in P7, whilst Rafaela Ferreira, Lia Block and Nina Gademan were all promoted up one place once Chloe Chong’s 10-second time penalty for causing a collision with Joanne Ciconte was applied, with the Alpine driver rounding out the points in 10th.
Pin holds a five-point lead at the top of the Drivers’ Standings as the season moves on to the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. In-season testing in Saudi Arabia will take place from April 4-6 before Round 2 commences on April 18-20.
