F1 ACADEMY: Chambers snatches pole in one-lap wet Miami shootout

Chloe Chambers nailed a short but sweet Qualifying session in Miami, taking advantage of track position to seal the fastest lap before a downpour hit.
As the rain began to fall at the green light, the Red Bull Ford driver put herself at the head of the queue and clocked in a 2:00.458. The field followed behind her, with Campos Racing teammate Alisha Palmowski slotting into second ahead of Mercedes’ Doriane Pin and McLaren’s Ella Lloyd — with the top-four separated by just 0.076s.

The downpour meant there was no more time to find, allowing Chambers to claim her second consecutive pole position and a 1-2 for Teams’ Standings leaders Campos.
Williams’ Lia Block bounced back after missing Qualifying in Shanghai and crashing out in Jeddah to claim fifth ahead of ART Grand Prix teammate Aurelia Nobels. Racing Bulls rookie Rafaela Ferreira qualified in seventh followed by Kick Sauber’s Emma Felbermayr. Tina Hausmann was ninth, with Standings leader Maya Weug left languishing in 10th.
