Every driver’s penalty points and Bottas' grid penalty status ahead of the 2026 Australian Grand Prix

Here are the number of penalty points that each driver holds entering into the 2026 season-opening Australian Grand Prix.

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA - MARCH 05: Valtteri Bottas of Finland and Cadillac F1 Team looks on in the

The 2026 F1 season is nearly upon us – and with a reset of the technical regulations, the teams have something of a clean slate to begin the campaign with.

Several drivers, however, will arrive into the Australian Grand Prix with penalty points on their Super Licence, given that these points remain for 12 months before expiring. If a driver accumulates 12 points within that timeframe, they will receive a one-race ban.

There's also the case of Cadillac's Valtteri Bottas, who was hit with a five-place grid penalty in his final F1 race as a Kick Sauber driver at the end of 2024. However, it has been confirmed that the Finn will not have to serve that penalty in Australia.

As stated in article B2.5.4 of the latest sporting regulations "classified drivers who have 15 or less cumulative unserved grid penalties for the Race imposed in the previous twelve (12) months will be allocated a temporary grid position equal to their Qualifying session classification plus the sum of their unserved grid penalties." As Bottas' penalty was issued before the 12-month time limit, he will not have to serve that previously imposed penalty.
