The first day's running of the Russian Grand Prix weekend is now done and dusted, with Mercedes – perhaps somewhat predictably – coming out on top.
Valterri Bottas topped the timesheets in both the morning and afternoon sessions, with Lewis Hamilton recovering from an uncharacteristically scruffy first practice – where lock ups and tyre flat spots saw him finish just 19th quickest – to take second spot behind his team mate in the afternoon.
FP2 REPORT: Bottas heads Hamilton in second practice at Sochi as Ricciardo impresses in P3
Daniel Ricciardo maintained his excellent pace in FP2, finishing up third behind the two Mercedes cars while Carlos Sainz put his FP1 crash behind him to set the fourth-fastest time in the afternoon.
