Spa Francorchamps is one of the world's greatest race tracks, and on Saturday afternoon one of the world's greatest racing drivers tamed the mighty circuit once again as Lewis Hamilton put in a terrific lap to take pole position for the Belgian Grand Prix.
The Mercedes man was in top form, setting a time in Q3 that was over half a second quicker than his team mate Valtteri Bottas, who was second in identical machinery.

Behind the two Mercedes was the familiar sight of Max Verstappen's Red Bull, who just missed out on the front row by an agonising 0.015s. As it is, the Dutchman will have company on row two tomorrow in the form of his ex-team mate Daniel Ricciardo, who converted strong practice pace at Spa to seal fourth on the grid.
It was a miserable day for Ferrari though, who saw both cars knocked out in Q2, with Charles Leclerc in 13th, just one place ahead of Sebastian Vettel.
